I was keeping a 2 yr old after it was gelded for a friend.  He did really well,  and the methods we use on Jenny he picked up perfectly.  One day he was fisty and was running around the stall which is 16 x28.  He  jumped the stall panel which is 5 five [feet] high [and] he hit the top of the panel and flipped over. [We are] lucky there was no damage to him. My question is: Other than a higher panel, how do you keep them from jumping?  All my horses that I have had never did this.  I return this horse to it's owner on Sat. But I would like to know how to keep a horse from jumping out of the stall.

Hi Terrie,

Young horses they will do stupid things sometimes. You need to let them have regular turn out with other horses in safe fencing so that they can play and get some of their energy off. You also have to play with them and help with the excess energy that horses have on a regular basis.

For some fencing, to make it safer and make horses respect it, electric fencing is a good idea. Maybe not the best for stall panels though.

The main thing is he has to let that energy out some how. So lots of
turn out and lots of play time with you.

Thanks for the question.
